Position Summary
The Home Medical Equipment Delivery Technician provides home care service deliveries, equipment repair, and maintenance services.  This position requires a basic understanding and working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic systems, and an aptitude for bench-type repairs of home care medical equipment.  Frequent patient/client interactions such as patient education and equipment setup require good interpersonal communication skills.  


Position Responsibilities
  • Coordinates delivery and maintenance of equipment and supplies to patients using portable oxygen, concentrators, and related equipment.
  • Sets up oxygen systems in patient homes.
  • Prepares appropriate equipment and supplies for home set-up
  • Delivery equipment and determines location for set up within patient homes.
  • Provides equipment/supply operating instructions and reviews with the home user.
  • Provides ongoing follow-up of all patients on home oxygen.
  • Resupplies oxygen in the patients/clients homes.
  • Performs equipment safety checks, including concentrators and other home medical equipment.
  • Serves as liaison between patients and nurses/therapists regarding patient concerns or problems.
  • Assures patient compliance with oxygen therapy.
  • Develops, implements, and/or revises routing schedules consistent with all patients’ oxygen usage requirements in the home.
  • Documents receipt/delivery of weights, equipment identification numbers, and pertinent patient information.
  • Performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs of all types of home medical equipment.
  • Participates in "on-call" rotation for the coverage of needed setup and issues that need attention after normal business hours.
  • Loads and transport equipment.
  • Completes daily route sheet, documenting the time and mileage of each stop.
  • Assures proper display on truck indicating high-pressure cylinders are being transported.
  • Assures vehicle safety equipment is in working order.
  • Completes daily pre-trip checklist prior to starting deliveries.
  • Maintains and Oxygen Cylinder Tracking Log according to FDA regulation.
  • Responsible for the safe and proper teaching and setup of durable medical equipment, including beds, walkers, wheelchairs, commodes, canes, Bilirubin lights, etc. for patients in the hospital, clinic, and home setting. 


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year experience with medical supplies, medical equipment and/or oxygen products.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and ability to successfully pass a driving background check.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of traffic regulations, safety precautions to be followed while operative a motor vehicle, and the ability to perform frequent patient/client interactions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ordering equipment, inventory control, and/or performing minor equipment repairs.
  • Experience in home delivery with training of equipment, products and/or supplies.
  • Experience in direct customer contact in the capacity of assisting with various types of equipment and/or products.


Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional (up to 33% of the time): 50 - 100 pounds
  • Frequent (34% - 66% of the time): 25 - 50 pounds
  • Constant (67% - 100% of the time): 10 - 20 pounds
