Endeavor is a bold exploration of the relentless pursuit of excellence. It’s only fitting that the third installment of the Musical Landscapes in Color project features living Black American composers whose works span nearly three decades of innovation.
From Regina Harris Baiocchi’s evocative Muse for Orchestra to the world premiere of Madison local Autumn Maria Reed’s Mental Health Suite, this program is a testament to resilience and creativity. Experience the cinematic sweep of Eric Gould’s An American City and the passionate tribute of Omar Thomas’ Of Our New Day Begun, which blends soulful tones with powerful rhythms. The performance culminates with the raw power of Xavier Foley’s Soul Bass Concerto, as the composer himself commands the stage as soloist.
More than a concert, more than an album—it’s a movement, recorded live to inspire generations to come.

Eroica kicks off the 25/26 Masterworks Season in Capitol Theater, encapsulating the timeless beauty of classical music. We welcome back guest violinist Vladyslava Luchenko to perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, whose captivating performance will infuse the stage with emotional depth and brilliance. The evening begins with Rautavaara’s Suite for Strings, a work filled with lush textures and evocative melodies and concludes with Beethoven’s groundbreaking Symphony No. 3 ‘Eroica’. With its sweeping energy and bold sound, the Eroica Symphony celebrates the triumph of the human spirit.
Universal rhythms explored through music and movement – weaving together themes of transformation and the endless cycle of renewal. This powerful concert features Please let there be a paradise… by GRAMMY®-nominated composer Angel Lam. A hauntingly beautiful journey and reflection on love and loss, it sets the stage for the WORLD PREMIERE of Concerto for Jazz Trio by Dan Cavanagh, Director of the UW Mead Witter School of Music, that blends contemporary jazz with the spirit of reinvention. Concluding the concert, the orchestra brings to life Regeneration: A Pentalogy by local composer Michael Bell alongside the breathtaking WORLD PREMIERE of Renascence by Kanopy Dance and choreographed by Robert E. Cleary's & Lisa Thurrell, a deeply expressive journey through the ebb and flow of existence—birth, death, and the beauty that rises anew.
