What It Takes To Compete And Win In The World's Largest Market
Last year the Federal government spent almost $600 billion and the State of Wisconsin about $3 billion on manufacturing, construction, technology, R&D, goods and services. This market is not for everyone and the barriers to entry can be a bit steep, but with an understanding of how it works, determining where you fit and how to identify and locate good opportunities, the government can become a very good and long term customer.

Aina Vilumsons has worked with the Wisconsin Procurement Institute (WPI) since 1997 and has served as Executive Director since 2000 and CEO since 2018. The Wisconsin Procurement Institute (WPI), a non-profit organization established in 1987, is an outgrowth of then Congressman Les Aspin's efforts to help Wisconsin businesses win federal contracts, especially defense contracts. Over the past years, WPI’s mission has expanded to provide technical assistance to Wisconsin companies in Federal, State and Local government contracting and subcontracting. WPI serves over 1,200 clients in the State and supports over 100 educational / conference events annually.
Ms. Vilumsons currently serves on the Executive Board of WPI, as Treasurer of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Contract Management Association, as Secretary for the Great Lakes Chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers, as Member of the Green Bay Packer Mentor Protégé board, member of the Volk Field Community Council and as a board member of the Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. Ms. Vilumsons received her BS degree from the University of Minnesota and her MBA from Marquette University.
