Communication of ideas, opinions, needs or emotions in the workplace can be uncomfortable at times. Individuals might be intimidated by conflict or insecure of their position or authority. On the other side, individuals may also demonstrate too much confrontation in the workplace. How do we find the balance between the two extremes? Discover ways to develop assertive communication in a professional manner, without demonstrating passivity or aggression.

Valerie has 17 years of experience in leadership roles within non-profit organizations and higher education institutions. She is an advocate for professional development and lifelong learning. Valerie has her Masters in Workforce Education and Development, with a focus on Adult Learning. She currently serves as the Academic and Admissions Advisor for Upper Iowa University Madison Center.
