Workforce Development in Dane County
Presented By: Urban League of Greater Madison, Department of Workforce Development & Office Team
Businesses nearly everywhere in America are experiencing a labor shortage like never before. A recent Labor Department’s Jolts survey has never shown more openings since Labor began keeping track in 2000. Employers are filling about one in 15 new positions. Is there light at the end of the tunnel for our business community? Join us on Wednesday, August 18 for a discussion around what factors are causing a shortage of workers in most industry sectors and what resources and tactics are available to mitigate the shortage.
Speakers & Topics:
  • Urban League – Quick update on South Side Business Hub and how it helps this issue, talk about program that puts people through training for blue collar manufacturing training, address what the issues are and what resources are there to help mitigate the shortage
  • Wisconsin Workforce Development – Trends in workforce, outline what is causing a shortage, and what is being done to remedy it
  • Robert Half, Madison - Trends on what employees are looking for in an organization, what can employers do or offer to attract the right type of talent
We will end with a question-and-answer session. If you have questions that you would like answered, please submit them to
