Founded in 2004, today we have 600 members and are proud that Dane Buy Local is one of the largest and most successful buy local initiatives nationwide. A study done by Civic Economics last year showed that independent businesses in Dane County recirculated 60.7% of revenue right back into the local economy versus 30.4% of national chains. The study estimated that a market shift of 10% from chains to independents would retain an estimated $173 million in the local economy.
