The Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Madison is dedicated to meeting basic needs among Dane County households coping with poverty. At the same time, we provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers and staff to serve their neighbors in need with love and compassion. St. Vincent de Paul – Madison serves the community through one of Dane County’s largest food pantries, the only stand-alone free pharmacy in Wisconsin, the longest-serving men’s housing program in Madison, a 1.25 sustainable food pantry garden, a storage facility for the goods of persons who are homeless, seven thrift stores offering direct charity, and several other forms of assistance that help people build their financial self-sufficiency including rent, utilities, and fuel relief.
Member volunteers conduct in-person home visits with people experiencing financial hardship and offer resources, hope and friendship without regard to race, ethnicity, religious belief, gender or other characteristics unrelated to the needs.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Madison is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization operating as the District Council of Madison, Inc., Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
The Society additionally offers direct charity through a furniture, household goods and clothing voucher program.
Sales from the thrift stores stores fund about half of the total operating budget supporting the humanitarian and community services provided.
